Friday Things | March 2017

TGIF! Kind of, I'm a little bit bitter that it's going to be in the 30's all weekend. The early snap of warm weather tricked me into thinking spring was coming early and I'm having a hard time readjusting my expectations.
1. While I steered clear of the Christmas themed pop-up because of tales of how insane the lines were, I love all things cherry blossom so really want to try to make it to the pop-up cherry blossom bar. (I'm also really curious to see what happens with the bloom dates with the weird weather we're having)

2. Monk is one of my favorite shows and sadly it isn't available on Netflix or Prime- my mom text me last week to let me know it's going to be on Hallmark-- meaning I can set the DVR and binge to my hearts desire. I'll also add that I felt a little bit like Monk trying to make the above graphic because nothing was lining up correctly.

3. Makeup brush washing mats have been around for quite a while and I was always intrigued, but never enough to pay $20+. A few weeks ago someone mentioned picking one up at TJ Maxx, which was a genius idea, and I was excited when I found one there for $5.99. I was skeptical, because it is kind of gimmicky but it made cleaning my foundation brushes so much easier. Worth every penny!

4. I'm sure this is news to no one but Ed Sheeran released his full album last week and it has been on repeat ever since. He also released his North American tour dates & he's coming to DC in September

5. I wasn't a super fan of The Girl on the Train, but I'm still extremely excited to read Paula Hawkin's new book, coming out in May. On the subject of thrillers, my #showusyourbooks post on Tuesday is going to be all about thrillers I've read recently. Also on the subject of new releases, apparently there's going to be a third book about Louisa Clark (Me Before You, After You) by Jojo Moyes. I'm curious to see what people think because many people weren't fond on the second book.

Happy Friday! I'm linking up with H54Ffab favoritesoh hey friday.

  1. I'm excited to hear about a Louisa Clark sequel! I actually enjoyed After You for what it was - in many ways I didn't feel like it was completely a sequel but I would love to know what happens to Louisa next!!! Looking forward to hearing about all your thrillers! And I want to find a make up mat like that one - it is seriously one of my least favourite things to do and I feel like that would definitely make it easier!!!

  13. I'm still stuck in the middle of Girl on the Train - I need to finish it already. Also, is that mat what the little pineapple thing is? I'm pretty intrigued about those mats, as well.

  14. I LOVE Ed Sheeran. Have you seen his cover of Love Yourself? It's so good! I didn't like The Girl on the Train either, but I will probably still read her new book!

  16. I can't wait for your blog post about thrillers! In the past 5 months or so, I've become obsessed with them. Girl on the Train wasn't my favorite but I'll definitely give her next book a try.

  17. I love Ed Sheeran. I wish he was coming a bit closer to me; I don't know if I'll make it to a show or not.

I didn't really care for The Girl on the Train - too obvious for me, but I will be curious to see what people think of her latest!

  18. Oh, Exciting news about a new Louisa Clark book. I am one of the rare few who liked the second book! Better than the first actually.
I didn't love The Girl on the Train either but I'll prob get sucked into Paula Hawkins' new one. Everyone will be reading it and I don't like being left out!

  19. Ohhhhh I need to see if I can find that make up brush mat at my TJ Maxx!! I swear that store and Nordstrom Rack are the only two places I ever find anything!!! It was 76 here yesterday and they are talking about a chance of snow tomorrow. In the deep south. In March. It's nuts. I actually liked After You and I would look forward to a third about Louisa!

  20. That's a good deal on that make up brush mat! I'm going to have to see if my TJ Maxx carries them!

  21. I always add to my to read list after your posts:). I heard mixed reviews on After You although I still feel like I need to read it.

  22. Oooh, I'll have to check TJ Maxx and places like it for a brush cleaning mat. Since I so rarely wear makeup anymore I'm worse than ever about cleaning my brushes, but they definitely need it and I hate the chore. I'll be on the lookout now!

Fingers crossed the blooms stick around until we're down there for the race. Last year the wind blew them all away!

  23. I'm really interested in reading Paula Hawkins new book too! And looking forward to a 3rd Louisa Clarke novel, I didn't love After You and I didn't hate but did feel like I needed more so I guess Moyes did set it up well for a third novel.

  24. Thanks for those book alerts! I actually really enjoyed After You - I just thought it didn't necessarily need to be a sequel to the first book. And, yes to all the ed sheeran!

  26. I'm so in love with Ed Sheeran's new album, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to make it to his concert when he comes to Houston! I'm just glad that this time he'll be playing inside! That pop up cherry blossom bar sounds so cool! We visited during Cherry Blossom season a couple of years ago and had the best time, but I'm interested to see when peak bloom as well because of the weather.

  27. I KNEW there would be another book with Louisa Clark! Moyes left that ending wide open for that and while I didn't love After You, I am SO excited! So. . . I have known next to nothing about makeup for the last 27 years and enrolled myself in a makeup class. My first set of brushes arrives tomorrow! I may need to look into this washing mat. What do you like to use to clean your brushes?

  28. I feel like if I had one of those brush mats maaaaybe I'd wash my brushes more often, haha!
