15 in 2017

Happy New Year! This was originally supposed to be a 17 in 2017 list, but I couldn't come up with 17 things I wanted to share, so it got shaved down to a completely random number. I don't know that I'd call these goals, it's more a list of things I'd like to accomplish or turn into habits at some point this year.

  • Keep my Netgalley queue in check
  • Complete the Read Harder Challenge & the Modern Day Mrs. Darcy Challenge
  • Daily Gratitude Journal
  • Complete a devotional/bible study (starting with Ephesians that I got forever ago & never completed)
  • Send 24 just because letters
  • Organize a bullet journal
  • Complete photobooks from our recent trips (the most tedious task ever)
  • Run another 5k
  • Fitness specific goals
    • Squat my bodyweight
    • 3 unassisted pull-ups (currently soo far away from this one)
    • 3 unassisted pistol squats
  • Budget/track our grocery spending
  • Intentionally dine out (out of interest, not out of desperation)
  • Connect and commit to a church
  • Appreciate the weekdays
Some thing are measurable, some are vague, some I'll probably revisit often and others will be more of a challenge. What are you hoping to accomplish or work towards in 2017?

  1. Finding a church is on my list, too! Here's to hoping we both check that off the list!

  2. These are all great! I especially love appreciating the weekdays and connecting to a church... I haven't been in months and it's really missing from my life. I know you can accomplish all these!

  6. oh man, i need to keep my netgalley list in check. i had 9 and i was like yay go me and then i apparently went into a trance and accidentally requested like 4 more. ugh. i'll never catch up. i have some books that i've had for a year! i need to stay off netgalley and just buy or get books from the library lol. read harder challenge? hmmmm. oh wow, squat your body weight, you go girl! that's a fabulous goal. i can't do an unassisted pull up to save my life but it's a dream goal of mine.. i'd love to know what you're doing to work towards it? and omg pistol squats are so hard hahaha i haven't done them in ages. i should try. i'll probably fall on my butt. good luck with all of these girl!

  7. LOLOL @ out of interest, not desperation. I love trying new restaurants (intentionally, not in desperation as well!).

Gah, the joy and pain of photo books.

  9. What a great list! I have been really trying to find and commit to a church as well but now I'm planning a move across the country and don't know how well the whole commit part will do. Also, pistol squats...dang.

  10. Oh, Yes - I forgot to mention this in my own 2017 goal post today but I am going to try to send out one piece of "just because" snail mail per month.
Photo books are such a process but I love having them. My 2016 book came yesterday and I can't stop paging through it. I do one per year and try to update it monthly so I don't get too far behind.
I hope that you find a church home this year, That was one of the things I was happiest about in 2016.

  11. I love the "just because" letter idea!! I love the photo book idea, too. I told myself I'd make one every year... and haven't since 2013 - whoops!

  12. We have some similar 2017 goals! I'm aiming to add 3 things each day to my gratitude journal and I'm reading Savor as a year long devotional. Good luck with accomplishing everything on your list!

  14. I'm also planning to work on Modern Mrs. Darcy's challenge and she is teaching about bullet journalling for readers on her book club site this month so I am thinking about signing up for that ($10). I really need to keep my Netgalley shelves in check this year too and only request books that I desperately want to read.

  15. Yes! Love these, especially the journal and fitness goals! You can totally do it girl!

  16. You've definitely inspired me with your "Intentionally dine out (out of interest, not out of desperation)". I never thought about it before but this is a great idea and I might just make it a goal of mine as well! Happy 2017! :)

  17. I love your list for 2017! It really is difficult to stay up to date with photobooks, but they're so worth it in the end! I'm also really bad about my Netgalley list, but hopefully I can keep it in check this year as well. I swear, my husband and I have talked about finding a church home for years and never actually done it. Maybe this will be the year for both of us!

  18. I want to budget my grocery spending as well! I have to track it first. Do you track yours monthly or every 2 weeks? I think I'm going to do mine monthly.

  19. Daily gratitude journaling is such a rewarding experience, and something I really love doing every day. I think it's pretty easy to turn into a habit when you just keep it simple. Morning or night, before or after you brush your teeth or drink your coffee, three little notes to yourself. Bonus if you combine it with the bullet journal! That's what I've done and I love the system.

Good luck with all these! Sounds like a great list to set you up for some great personal progress and growth.

  20. I love the idea of writing "just because" letters. I think the world needs more of that. Happy New Year!

  21. I really like your appreciate the weekdays goal. I need to be a little better about that for sure. Also, I have some serious scrapbooking to get done this year!
"Intentionally dining out" is a great one, too! We always just do it out of necessity and my husband tries to call it a date night. Ha. Not really, buddy.

  23. Love your list! Keeping Netgalley in check is always so hard because I want to request everything but then get behind because library and other books too! And keeping the grocery bill down is always so hard. I feel like every time I cut it a little, the price rises on everything or something. I basically gave up. Let me know your tricks you learn!

  24. Interested in seeing what you do with bullet journaling!
I gave up on Net Galley because I wasn't diligent enough in keeping up with it. Also, I really wanted to take on a reading challenge (in a way) but it's more work than just choosing books, so I'll just choose books :)

  25. These are some awesome goals! I'm trying to work on a few of these things. I am trying to always have meal plan or some kind of food in the house so that going out to dinner is a fun event, not something I'm constantly doing cause I have no food in the house. I love your ideas of a gratitude journal and sending just because letters. I haven't really been able to nail down my 2017 goals yet but these might be included in them. Thanks for sharing.

  26. Making those books from trips is somehow the hardest thing ever...I still haven't done one for a trip last year (it was in feb) LOL!! I think you'll rock your goals!! xo, Biana

  27. I love the intentionally dining out one! We so often grab food out in desperation and then either don't enjoy the experience or are disappointed in our choice.

    Great list!

  28. These are great goals! I want to be better about our grocery spending too this year!

  29. I like the idea of the "just because" letters!

  30. These are all great goals to have! I'll admit that I'm not the most religious person (more spiritual), but a devotional does seem intriguing to me. And, I love your just because letters idea!

  31. I love the thought of intentionally dining out! Might as well enjoy spending that money!

  32. Really interesting goals! I like how they're different than most. I can't wait to see how you do in 2017!

Thanks for joining the linkup :)

  33. I love this! I hope you accomplish or get closer to all of these goals in 2017!! I have some things I want to do this year, but a lot of it is to continue exploring my city and finding new things to do! I might not love it, but I want to try more things!

  35. YES about the Netgalley books. I am so far behind that I'm embarrassed to even request any more books from there. Good luck with all of these goals :)
