What's New

Fall is pretty much over in my mind and I'm ready to go full force into all things holiday. I managed to check off almost everything on my fall to-do list. We saw Girl on the Train and were both a little unimpressed. I've read the book (my husband hasn't), but we both thought it jumped around a little too much to ever build any real suspense. I made caramel corn for the first time ever and it was delicious, but I think I actually prefer caramel apples a bit more. We took our traditional trip to the apple orchard and drank overpriced hot cider, got a couple of mini pumpkins, and picked a few apples. I made an apple crisp, which is perfect because you can kind of make as much as you want without having to make an entire pie or go through a lot of work. Lastly, we're on the fence about running a Thanksgiving 5k, but have a couple of weeks left to decide.

There are so many things on my Sephora wish list between essentials I've been waiting to repurchase and new things I keep adding to my cart. These are a few of my favorite (all $30 & under):
Sephora favorite kits are almost always a hit & the glow for it offers a great variety of the most popular highlighters with some new(er to me) ones thrown in. Living Proof is easily becoming one of my favorite brands and the spread cheer & perfect hair kit is such a great value with a full size dry shampoo plus 2oz of the Perfect Hair Day shampoo and conditioner. All four colors in the perfect bite set look wonderful and mini lipsticks are perfect if it's not something you wear daily and ever get through. Hair masks are definitely a luxury item and I think coconut oil works pretty well on its own, but the hair rescue masks on the go kit would make a great gift.

I've already watched an embarrassing amount of Christmas movies and my husband was slightly horrified by how many were recorded on the DVR before the first week of November. What are your favorite Christmas movies? And if you're anti-Christmas before Thanksgiving, what are you looking forward to this month?

  2. I could totally watch Christmas movies year round. My cousin & his wife gave out caramel apples as the favour at their wedding and they were SO delicious. My aunt actually made them all so she gave me a bunch to take home. I want more already!

  3. I'm totally in holiday mode, too. I've still got all the fall stuff (and candles) out but I'm prepping for the holidays and maybe snuck in a little Christmas music on November 1st :)

  4. oh bummer about being unimpressed with girl on the train. i haven't seen it yet but i thought the trailer was meh. i love caramel corn, that would be so dangerous for me to make it. i don't think i've ever had a caramel apple? apple crisp sounds delish. also dangerous haha. i was going to do a thanksgiving turkey trot - my gym does a 5k or 10k i think, or both, but i am thinking no. just cause i can't be bothered, no other reason.
my favourite christmas movie is the santa clause. no shame, every year without fail. love it.

  5. That caramel corn looks delicious, I had planned on making candy or caramel apples for Halloween but then I totally forgot about it until it was too late (although is it really ever too late for caramel/candy apples?)!

  7. Girl I am all about November and December being focused on Thanksgiving and Christmas at the same time. I just love the holiday season and soaking up everything that surrounds both so bring on the Christmas music and movies. I have already watched The Holiday this month! My favorites are Elf and The Grinch but I seriously haven't found a Christmas movie that I don't love...you know? All of your Sephora picks are so perfect! Living Proof is my favorite hair brand as well. Their dry shampoo is the BEST EVER. I have had my eye on wanting to try highlighters so I really like that kid you found as well. If you need someone to get Christmas giddy with, I am your girl :)

  11. I'm so jealous of everybody that already is decorating and getting into the Christmas spirit. Because I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year, I have to keep up all the fall decor so it looks appropriate. So much self-control! Glad you're enjoying life, lady!

  13. I'm all about Christmas stuff. I have been watching those AWFUL/amazing/addictive Hallmark xmas movies. So bad they're good... or something like that. We haven't pulled out any real movies yet... but I'm very excited for the holidays! I'd like to get a jump on presents and planning too! :) It sounds like you had a great October, I would love to try making caramel corn sometime. :) XO - Alexandra

  14. I am kind of sad Fall is coming to a close. I am not looking forward to the snow. I have always been a more Halloween/Thanksgiving girl verses a Christmas person. Not sure why. So glad you got your bucket list taken care of though!

  15. Haha my husband is the same way when I load up the DVR on holiday specials (and crappy reality tv)! That caramel corn looks delish, but I agree to the caramel apples winning every time! I haven't seen the Girl on the Train yet, but I've been wanting to since I read the book last year. I was bummed when I heard it's set in NYC instead of London. Why cast a British actress then?

  16. I totally love the super cheesy Hallmark/Lifetime rom com Christmas movies. But of course I love all the older classics too! I don't think I'm ready to start watching them yet, but I hope to watch a ton this year!

  17. Three big cheers for the Sephora sale! I've been building my bag for a while with stuff that I want to restock, but I haven't really found something that I really want to splurge on. Your October sounds so awesome, especially with the apple picking. I wish that we had that down here!

  18. I am 100% in the camp of celebrate-Christmas-as-early-as-you-want. I started picking up a few gifts here and there and I have been making plans with my mom for a few days of making gifts. I started listening to Christmas music this morning and I am not ashamed! My favorite Christmas movies are Elf, The Grinch, and A Charlie Brown Christmas... I could go on and on :)))

  19. Sounds like you've had an awesome Fall, and yay for crossing a lot off of your list. I wish we had a real "Fall" down here, apple picking sounds like so much fun!

  20. Living Proof products have seriously changed my hair life so I will definitely be picking that up during the sale. I have so many other things I want to get as well! Thanks for the suggestions and for linking up with us :)

  21. I haven't started watching the movies on hallmark channel yet, but girl when I do, I'm exactly the same way - can't get enough of them! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  22. I've had my eye on that Bite Beauty set, too! Ah can't wait for the sale! We always watch Home Alone and Christmas Vacation a million times. I also love The Family Stone and The Holiday! And of course all the classic cartoons. We also watch Uncle Buck and Trains, Planes, and Automobiles around Thanksgiving. Weird, I know!

  23. I'm kind of a mix with Thanksgiving and Christmas crossing paths. We don't decorate until the day after Thanksgiving but I will buy things here and there and if a good Christmas movie is on I'm watching it. Some of my favorites are Elf, The Grinch, I'll Be Home For Christmas, The Holiday, and Home Alone. Have a great weekend! Beautifully Candid

  25. Love, love, love the tv Christmas movies! It's one of my favourite things about the holidays!
I might have to add those Bite mini lipsticks to my Sephora order. And you're totally right, the minis are usually definitely the way to go...who goes through a full sized lipstick??

  26. Okay I think I'm going to get the Living Proof kit. Everyone has raved about the dry shampoo long enough for me to give it a try.
And I'm with you; ready for all things holiday!

  27. Are they already playing Christmas movies on TV?! I haven't really looked, but I think I'm going to start watching them sooner than I usually do because I find most years, I never watch as many as I say I'm going to because I wait too long! I need to try this Living Proof dry shampoo! I've yet to find one I really really love, but I'm also always hesitant to invest in a new one..but seems everyone raves about this one!

  28. Bite beauty has been on my list to try for so long. Their holiday kits always sell out so fast though! Thank you for the reminder about holiday movies. The cheesy romantic ones are my favorite and I didn't have time to watch a single one last year. I'm going to make it my mission to watch at least one a week!!

  29. Fabulous beauty picks!! I am still in fall mode--it's my fave! I'm sure I'll decorate for the holidays soon!
