The Tuesday Four

blacksalt dc mojito We celebrated our third anniversary last week... I know everyone says this, but where does the time go? It's cheesy and a bit cliche but I'm so thankful it really feels like each year is better than the one before. Thanks so much to everyone for the sweet comments over on instagram.

This year was a little bittersweet because last year we were in New Orleans-- which was one of the best vacations ever. Some of the best food ever, combined with exploring history, and lounging at the pool. This year we decided to try somewhere new & had dinner at BlackSalt to celebrate the occasion and had an amazing dinner. We both agreed it was one of the best meals we've had in a really long time and I highly recommend going if you're a fan of seafood and in the DC area.

Three more things recently...I know I'm probably the last person on the planet to try out micellar waters, but I tried the Simple brand and I'm so impressed. I think it might be just a tad drying, but it does such a good job removing my makeup without irritating my skin & it truly doesn't leave behind any residue.

My new favorite dessert is Yasso frozen greek yogurt bars. They're only 80-100 calories and are really satisfying when you want something sweet. I've had kind of spotty luck with the boxes I get-- as in some of them look kind of weird, but their customer service has been really great. I'm on the hunt to try the cinnamon bun ones next!

I had no idea that The Light Between Oceans was going to be a movie but was excited to see the trailer recently. I loved the book, but I'm having similar feelings as to how I feel about Me Before You & not really wanting to watch something sad-- though I do really like Alicia Vikander.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Do you have favorite restaurants for special occasions or do you like to try something new?

  1. We went to Blacksalt when Mark was sworn in as a Lawyer up there a few years ago. The cab driver took us on such an adventure (that was pre Uber years) but it was totally worth it! Happy Anniversary doll!

  6. It's always tough when you get to celebrate an anniversary in a fun place one year, and then you celebrate at home the next. It sounds like BlackSalt was a great way to cure the vacation blues though, and everything looks amazing! The Between Oceans looks like such an amazing movie, and I've been dying to read the book, but I totally understand what you mean about maybe not wanting to see something so sad.

  7. Congratulations on three years :) you guys make a beautiful couple! Glad you had a great anniversary dinner.
I'm a big fan of Simple too; I use their daily facial moisturizer in the mornings and I love using the cleansing water after a workout. I don't need a full makeup removing cleanser, but I want to get the sweat and road dust (from running outside) and all that off my face when I get home! I always put moisturizer on after I use it though, so I've never noticed it being drying.

  8. Happy Anniversary! Your food looks so good. Mmmmm frozen yogurt?! I need to try that! I grabbed a bottle of the Garnier Micellar water awhile back and it really does removed the last of my makeup after I was my face. It is a tad drying for me as well. Hope you have a great week.

  14. Happy anniversary!! That dessert you had looked so good. I haven't used a lot of Simple products before, but I think now that summer's here and I'm wearing less makeup, I'd definitely like to try them!

  22. Congrats on your anniversary! The food looks wonderful and it's great to hear that you had a good night. I haven't had any wedding anniversaries yet, but that's something that I'm looking forward to also :) Whenever I like a restaurant I like to stick to it and avoid trying new things, which is my downfall I guess. But being in a new city helps to force me to try new restaurants and discover new favorites.
