My Go-To Beauty Products

A year or so ago I really downsized when it came to my makeup products. I had accumulated a lot of great products, but many of them were quite old or items I didn't reach for on a daily basis. I instated a rule of not buying more of one thing until I had used up what I already have-- for most things anyway, because the only products I ever really run out of are foundation and mascara. Affiliate links are used in this post-- so clicking and/or purchasing anything through them will earn me a few cents.

I'm still loving the Smashbox studio skin 15-hour wear hydrating foundation. Even without using a primer this lasts on my skin all day without wearing off. In the winter I use 1.2 with a little of 2.2 mixed in & wear 2.2 once I get a little more color or if I'm self-tanned.

I change up my bronzer depending on how I'm feeling, but usually reach for Smashbox bronze lights in warm matte or Tarte park avenue princess (I have the palette linked & think it's great for traveling since it has the highlight & blush too). I used to own so many blushes but now I just stick to a few favorites: Smashbox chiffon for anytime or Nars madly in the summer.

For a highlight the MUFE sculpting duo in #2 is amazing for a gold-- even though it's a little bit much for winter when I'm a bit pale, I still reach for it because I like it so much and love that it's a glow without being super sparkly or something. I've also been loving Benefit's Watts Up for a cream highlight-- I have it in a mini and can't imagine ever needing a full size.

I'm still using and loving Lancome. Hypnose is my favorite, but sometimes I switch it up with définicils or doll lashes. Eyeliner isn't an every day thing, but the Urban Decay liner in whiskey is the best. It goes on so smooth and doesn't smear or smudge throughout the day. I have it in the duo with the black liner that I have linked.

For my brows I always use the Smashbox brow tech trio--it was a free gift from Ulta, but every time I search for it, it's really hard to find. I don't think I've reached for my ABH brow powder since and brow wiz is basically just an expensive spoolie to me.

I still love the Urban Decay basics palette for a quick pat of color-- as much as I was loving the naked palette, the shadows are so annoyingly powdery and messy I tend to reach for my MAC shadows (naked lunch, vanilla, satin taupe) over the naked palette.

Concealer is one of those products I use sometimes, but it's rarely a wow factor when I use it. I switch it up between Maybelline fit me and Dior skin perfecting hydrating concealer. And as long as I can remember I finish off my makeup with a few spritz of the Urban Decay cooling & hydrating setting spray.

I am trying out a few new products that I got for my birthday which has been fun since I've been using all of the products in this post for a really long time now. What are some of your go-to beauty items? Do you tend to skin to things you know and love, or do you like to switch it up more often?

  2. I need to try out that Smashbox foundation, even with an amazing primer my foundation disappears by mid-day *sigh*. And loving all your eye products - so pretty <3

  3. The Naked Basics is a go to everyday I wear makeup, it's perfect for me and the simple look I go for. I've never tried the Lancôme mascara, really need to pick that one up to try!

  5. i feel retarded when it comes to makeup. setting spray? i mean this girl just got introduced to highlighter recently haha. but i use the watt's up! i have the big size and the small and wondering why i bought the larger one. but i'll still use it for forever probably! also any liner named whiskey as the color is probably a win in my book :)

  6. i do like to switch things up a bit in theory, but then i end up reaching for the same stuff haha. i don't wear a full face that often though. concealer is a must for me though, but i might be the only person who doesn't love the fit me concealers. i like maybellines other one, the age rewinder, and then i have a nyx one i really love. the fit me ones are okay, just not wow factor on me like you said :)

  8. I love switching out my foundation so I'll be checking that one out next!! I'm big on the naked basics palette for when I travel, I think it has all the colors I need LOL! The setting spray is my favorite - I've just started my 3rd bottle and it lasts for a long time! xo, Biana

  9. I've been the same way lately - I really have been making an effort to downsize the amount of crap we have in our house, so any excess makeup that is old or I don't use has gone away. I'm still intrigued by that foundation since you've raved about it multiple times now!

  10. I'm always looking for a new foundation and will have to check that one out. I like a foundation that lasts for awhile. Some days I'm out of the house for over 12 hours and like my makeup to last all day long.

  13. It's so funny, when I was younger it was all about how much can I have - needed and wanted everything (including teal eye shadow haha)...and now, I just want a handful of great products that work! ;)

  14. I used to like switching things up but now I just stick to what I like. I got tired of having an overflowing makeup bag so right now I'm trying to use everything up before purchasing more products. Most most makeup (except for mascaras) lasts me years, I rarely ever run out of anything. Naked Basics is also my go-to eyeshadow, I never really use anything else.

  15. I used to just stick to what I know, but I've found myself starting to change things up now that I've been playing with makeup for longer. I don't remember what color I had, but the Smashbox blush was the first one that I ever hit pan on. It was amazing! I have a sample size of the Benefit Watts Up, and it sounds like I need to try it out soon!

  19. Girl concealer is a must for my mama dark circles. I love the Watts Up too. I don't use it much but when I do I love the shimmer it gives.

  20. This is a great list of products! I started using the Urban Decay setting spray back in January. I don't use it everyday but when I need my makeup to last all day, it gets the job done!

  21. I love reading posts like these because I learn about so many new products. I think I need to dip my toe into some more Smashbox! Clearly it's working for you.

I've been getting a lot of use out of my Naked Basics palette. I think I'm the last beauty blogger to discover Mac shadows... still haven't done that. I'm too afraid I'd love them.

  22. It's great that you have some awesome staples that you can rely on! I still have yet to find a holy grail concealer, but the Fit Me one is the closest one yet! I also love the Sephora baked foundation to set my liquid foundation without looking cakey and giving me a nice glow!

  24. I used to be loyal to products, but my sister has gotten super into the world of makeup lately so I've been a tad more adventurous thanks to her prodding.
