What's Happening Wednesday

The Memory Keeper's Daughter finally arrived from Amazon. I very rarely buy books, but after reading Kristen's post on buying inexpensive books I decided to check the used section on Amazon and this one was available for under $4 with Prime free shipping. I was kind of annoyed because the book arrived and the cover was literally hanging on by a thread, but I guess that's considered 'good'? The rest of the book is fine and it was nothing a little scotch tape couldn't fix.

As much as I think I don't have a preference between e-books and traditional books, I find it really hard to read a physical book after I'm used to e-books-- it kind of messes with my mind not being able to see how many minutes I have left in a chapter.

Speaking of books... a few weeks ago I won a giveaway from BookSparks-- I had no idea what to expect as a part of my prize package, but I was so pleasantly surprised.

I would say, I never win anything but (like a year ago) I won a giveaway Jaelan was hosting and I finally used my Kate Spade gift card on a few things. A mini wallet-- perfect for my small bags, and then a makeup holder-- perfect for my bigger bags!

When I finished up my last little bit of the sweater weather candle I was burning I was anxious to start using something a little more spring-like. The seaside citrus candle is lemon mixed with floral and smells nice and fresh, but has zero scent throw-- so disappointing.

Mozzarella sticks are possibly my favorite junk food so obviously I had to try the SkinnyTaste version. They're good, but the breading to cheese ratio just doesn't do it for me-- way too much cheese! The good thing is, you can make an entire package of string cheese and then just bake as many as you want at a time since they have to be frozen anyway.

What's happening with you this week? Are you loyal to e-books vs. traditional books?

  2. I'm sort of the opposite...I can only read 2-3 Ebooks before I have to get my hands on a real one.

    Great choices at Kate Spade!

  6. I'm definitely loyal to regular, old fashioned books! I loved The Memory Keepers Daughter when I read it - if you liked it, I'd definitely recommend The House At Riverton.

  7. I'm cracking up at your ebooks vs. hard cover books now - I'm the same way! I will never not love hard copies, but I too am now accustomed to seeing how many minutes I have left in the chapter. Ah, reader problems, right? :)

  8. I'm so glad to hear someone else say that about ebooks. I love regular books but I love knowing the same thing - how much further in the book / chapter... & I love I can adjust the font & look of it. I'm really spoiled to it now.

    Love your kate spade goodies!!!

BOO on the cover of the book hanging on - I'd leave a comment about that so people are aware what they consider 'good'

  10. Those cheese sticks look pretty good - I would want more breading, too, though!

  11. I think those mozza sticks would be SO up my alley because melted cheese is basically my favourite thing ever haha. I love what you picked out from Kate Spade! That blush/black style is such a nice combo.

  12. That Kate Spade stuff is SUPER cute! I liked to buy books used on Amazon. It's good if you could care less about the condition.

  13. I probably read 95% of my books on my eReader and it totally weirds me out when I have a regular book too. Although, sometimes the prices for real books are so much better than those of the eBooks, so I have to go with a physical copy. Hooray for winning the giveaway from BookSparks! It looks like you got a lot of great goodies!

  14. I've made those mozz sticks before and they are sooo cheesey but sooo good ha. You won a great giveaway with the Kate goodies last year! I know I read that book a while ago and remember finding it hard to love, so let me know how you enjoy it. xx

  15. Mozzarella sticks look delicious, they are making me hungry right now! I also read a lot of my books on Kindle so it's kind of weird holding a regular book lol.

  16. I prefer traditional books. For me, I prefer reading and not listening and it helps my eyes to read on a normal book. That Kate Spade stuff is cute!!

  18. Love the Kate Spade goodies you got! Super cute. We don't really buy books anymore either, which I never thought I'd say. Most of what we read comes from the library in ebook form.

  19. I have always proclaimed my love for actual books and that they are the best things ever. Until I downloaded a book on my phone. I'm ashamed to admit that I struggle going back to the real thing now! I love that I have my book with me everywhere I go and can discretly easily pull it out when I have a few spare minutes. And knowing the percentage I have read so far is so fun!

  21. I actually NEED that mini wallet. You should see the massive KS I have right now. So ridiculous and heavy.

  22. That mini wallet is so cute! It looks like it's the perfect size for small cross-bodies or to just throw in a pocket as you run out the door!

I'm just the opposite of you with books - if it's not a physical book, I have a hard time reading it. I do love that we have options though of physical or ebook since I feel like people strongly prefer one to the other!

  24. I love traditional books! There's nothing better than the scent of them as you're reading.

  25. ugh that is so rude about the book! i generally buy very good or like new, because 'good' can be all sorts of weird things, like writing in the book and that annoys the heck out of me. but $4, that's not bad! i am the exact same with ebooks/real books, if i read a ton of ebooks in a row, i find it really hard to get back into real books, but also vice versa, i find it hard to get into an ebook if i've read a ton of real books.
