Sephora First Impressions

Despite all of the things I would have loved during the Sephora VIB sale, I stuck to what was on my list (for the most part). I can't really give a full review on anything as I haven't used these products enough yet, but I thought I'd share some first impressions.

Nars Madly Blush | I've wanted this forever-- last year it was sold out everywhere, and I was convinced it was going to be discontinued so I kind of forgot about it. When I swatched it on my hand I was a little worried because there is SO MUCH shimmer! I did a double-take, and thought maybe they sent me the wrong shade, but on the cheeks the shimmer isn't an issue and the color is perfect, and warms up my face in the best way possible. Up until recently I was pretty much sticking to just bronzer and highlight and now I've switched back to just blush.

GlamGlow Thirstymud Hydrating Mask | Oh this stuff smells so good! My skin is every kind of sensitive so I'm really cautious about what I put on my face. Right away I liked that this mask can be left on over night-- to me that means, if I forget to rinse it off right away it's not going to start burning my skin or something else awful. The directions say you can just wipe off the mask with a towel and rub it into the skin if you don't want to rinse off with water. I can't speak to the effectiveness yet as I've only used it one time, but it felt really comfortable on the skin and left my face feeling soft and hydrated.

Sephora Crystal Nail File & Instant Polish Remover | Both of these were recommendations from Nadia! At first I was convinced the nail polish remover couldn't work that well, but it really makes for the easiest nail polish removal! My nails haven't been long enough to need a file (yet), but it comes in a nice little case & I can't wait to try it out.

Formula X Base Coat | Despite the little how to section on the Sephora website suggesting you wear this stuff alone to strengthen your nails, I do not recommend that. It peeled like crazy, and I was hoping it was just because I didn't put an actual polish over it. I haven't tried it again yet, but if it does the same thing it will probably be going back.

Living Proof Dry Shampoo | This was a last minute addition to my cart after reading Heather's post. As much as I love the Batiste dry shampoos sometimes the scent is just too strong and I don't like using it for that reason. I have to say that this dry shampoo has the best (and lightest) scent of any dry shampoo I've tried! As far as its effectiveness, it definitely works, though the verdict is still out, as to whether it's better than what you can find at the drugstore.

Shiseido Eyelash Curler | My current lash curler is old and pretty gross, so I figured it was time for a new one. I think my old one was Tweezerman, and to be honest this one seems exactly the same, so I have no complaints, but it doesn't do anything crazy or amazing.

Replica Beach Walk & Lazy Sunday Morning Rollerball | I had planned on purchasing lazy sunday morning, but then I saw this little duo and thought it was too good of a deal to pass up while I had 20% off. I already have a beach walk rollerball, but I use it all of the time, so I definitely don't mind having a backup. The staying power of both of these scents are amazing on top of how good they smell!

  1. I definitely need to try that dry shampoo! I need something light in my hair! And I have that GlamGlow mask and while I haven't noticed a huge difference in my skin I do like the way it feels after using it! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  2. I love the Shisiedo curler... But it's probably because my previous one was junk! I need to check out this NARS shade!

  3. I really want to try Living Proof shampoo and conditioner because I've heard great things. I didn't realize that they also had a dry shampoo! Replica Beach Walk smells so good, I would like to get it but I told myself that I won't be getting any more perfumes until I use up the ones that I have. Though Alex got a sample of men's Replica Jazz Club and liked it, so I got it for him for Christmas, shhh :)

  5. I love that you gave a few new products a try with the VIB sale. I definitely want to add that file and the dry shampoo to my "loves" list for next time I'm shopping at Sephora.

  7. I have been wanting to try the Living Proof dry shampoo because everyone has been raving over it. I too have been a Bastiste girl and you are right...the scents can be a bit much sometimes. I want to grab the kit that has several different Living Proof things in it for $32 and try them all!

Glamglow is another item that has been on my list forever. I thought maybe it was just hyped up and I didn't have interest in trying it because of the price. But seeing people like you who have sensitive skin and still like it....maybe I need to pull the trigger!

  8. i've heard amazing life changing things about that eyelash curler, good to know it isn't any better than the cheapie ones. i mean $19 isn't super expensive, but it's more than the other ones lol. ugh that sucks about the base coat, hope it works better with a polish! i really want to try the glam glow stuff. maybe one day!

  9. I used to use that eyelash curler. Then I switched to an e.l.f. one that is a zillion dollars cheaper and I like it better.

The Living Proof dry shampoo is my life blood. I'm on day four without washing and it looks fresh.

  10. ThirstyMud has legit SAVED my nose. For some reason, it gets super dry... I've tried everything and this is the only thing that has helped! I just leave it on all the time, on top of some Hydraluron.

  11. I switched over from Batiste to LP for the same reason - the scent drove me crazy!! I think it works just as well, but of course the price tag is kind of a bummer haha. Definitely going to check out ThirstyMud because I'm a huge fan of the regular GlamGlow mask!

  13. You scored some great things and none of which I've used before. Curious to hear how the dry shampoo works out for you since Batiste is the only one I've found effective despite their strong/perfume-y smells.

  14. Ahh I really need to get my hands on a crystal nail file - the regular ones make the ends of my nails peel :(
I'm also thinking of switching to a different dry shampoo after having been loyal to Batiste for the past two years! You're right - the smell is too strong sometimes. Good to know that the Dry Bar one doesn't have so heavy a scent!

  15. Nars blush is the best! Once you get past the shock of the glitter, it looks so good on!

  16. I really need to try that nail polish remover!!!! Everyone has said wonders of it! Xo

  17. Oh girl. You will absolutely LOVE that crystal file. I switched several months ago and I just can't go back to the traditional nail files. Crystal ones work SO WELL.

  18. Glad the dry shampoo wasn't a dud...I agree the scent is so much better than Batiste but I'm not sure the price tag is worth it :( Although SMD 4 days is making me think I should try another day, lol! We shall see. I was so tempted to get the glamglow, so that'll be on my next sale list! Have a fabulous weekend!!

  19. I just got the Batiste dry shampoo and yes it does smell pretty strong! Luckily I don't use it that frequently, just after the gym and such so it doesn't bother me. I really need to find a good blush color too.

  20. I'm terrified to try the LP dry shampoo because I know I'll love it, and I go through that stuff too much to justify the cost! The crystal nail file is one of my favorites.

  22. That scent duo sounds like such a good deal. I can't wait to get Beach Walk back out for my trip to Mexico in January - I've been missing it so much! I had the same thoughts about the remover, but took the plunge and now I'm seriously obsessed. My least favourite part of doing my nails was always getting it off at the end, and now it's so quick and easy!

  23. I love how good the Glamglow masks smell and how amazing my face feels after! And I'm very intrigued by that NARS blush <3
