Five Things on Friday

1. I'm finally on Instagram with my blog! I'm still sorting out how often I'll use it, but follow me @ carlyblogshere. Also Jaelan is hosting an Instagram bloghop so make sure you join in if you're also on Instagram.

2. I had the worst reaction to the Yes To Cucumbers Face Wipes-- They're supposed to be soothing and hypoallergenic but my entire face, neck, and ears turned so red and blotchy as if I had the worst sunburn of my life. I have sensitive skin so I get a lot of redness but I've never experienced anything like this before- I don't know if it's the fragrance or something else, but I'm definitely allergic to something in them.
3. Harper Lee is said to be publishing another book she wrote prior to To Kill A Mockingbird. I'm definitely intrigued by this since To Kill A Mockingbird is such a classic- now I want to reread it.

4. We made these delicious Skinny Taste lettuce wraps this week and they will definitely be made again soon.

5. I started reading the Shopaholic series. I'm pretty sure I read the first one or two when they were first out, but I don't remember them at all so I'm enjoying them. They're definitely not a book too take too serious, but light & fun.

I can't believe this week is already over. February is already off to a quick start. I hope you guys all have a wonderful weekend!

  11. Oh my... I'm afraid of wipes just for that reason.
I need to re-read To Kill a Mockingbird... classics like that need to be re-read as an adult & not because you have to for a class :)

  12. Love it! I'm going to start following you on Instagram. Do you have a separate one for personal use or is this your only one? I've been toying with the idea of making a separate one for my blog, but I don't want to do the upkeep on both. LOL!

  14. Yikes about the face wipes. I have super sensitive skin so I've been nervous to try that, too - I think I'll stay away from the Yes brand! And I'm so excited that you're on Instagram!! Definitely my favorite social media. Off to check out the linkup, happy Friday!

  15. Oh no! I love the Yes To wipes, but I can see where some others might not - there is fragrance in them, so that's probably it. I'd recommend giving the Burt's Bees sensitive skin wipes a try - those should be much safer!

  16. I loved the Shopaholic series back when they first came out - re-reading is a great idea!! I had the exact same reaction to discovering Harper Lee's novel coming out. Really makes me want to go back and re-read To Kill a Mockingbird. I haven't read it in years. Yay for insta!!

  17. I have been hearing mixed things about Harper Lee book, like skepticism if she wrote it or if she wanted it released but I am so intrigued. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my all time faves.

  18. Those lettuce wraps look yummy! That stinks that the Yes to wipes irritated your skin! I tried them too and there is a weird scent to them that I don't love. I like that they are a more natural product though. Maybe one of the other fragrances/kinds would be better for you? Have a good weekend girlie!

  19. OMG sorry about the reaction! So glad you are now on Insta... cheers to more Carly in my life ;) Happy weekend!

  22. Oh my god, I'm so surprised to hear that about the Yes to wipes! I've been using tons of different Yes to products for years and I love them all, I'm so sorry you had such an awful reaction!
I was SO, SO pumped to hear about a new Harper Lee book. I adore TKAM, it's one of my all-time favorites and I'm adding it to my re-read list ASAP too :)

  23. Yeah for Instagram, it's by far my favorite social media. Those lettuce wraps look so good. Hope your skin gets better, what a bummer.

  24. I love Instagram!! Headed to follow you now. :) And Big Little Lies JUST came in for me at the library today! I already developed quite a stack haha, but hopefully I'll pick it up next week.

  25. I'm excited to have you on instagram! I've been wanting to try the Yes To line but now I guess I'll be careful with it because allergic reactions are no fun. I can't wait for the sequel to To Kill a Mocking bird, though I kind of forgot what the book was all about so I should definitely read it again soon :)

  26. yay for instagram! and those lettuce wraps look amazing!!

  27. I loved the Yes to Cucumbers wipes, until I realized that my eyes kind of hurt if I used them ANYWHERE near them. I want wipes that I can take some of my eye makeup with!

  31. The Yes to Cucumbers face wipes burned my skin and my eyes really badly when I tried them a few years ago! I've never heard anyone else say they had a similar experience with them so that's really interesting! I thought it was weird that my skin reacted that way too because like you said, they're supposed to be calming and soothing- so strange! Also, I'm so glad that you're on Instagram now!!

  34. Yes, all this talk about Harper Lee recently has me itching to re-read To Kill a Mockingbird. It's one of my all time favorites, but I haven't read it in...wow, probably like 10 years. Time to fix that!

  35. Such a bummer that you had an allergic reaction to the yes to cucumber wipes. I recently picked them up and at first I thought I may have been as well, but it has yet to happen again.

  36. I have sensitive skin too, so I'll definitely be staying away from those face wipes. I definitely want to reread To Kill a Mockingbird now and read Harper Lee's second book! Ah! That'll be so interesting. Those lettuce wraps look so delicious. I may have to try that recipe. I've only read the first book in the Shopoholic series, but I want to read them all! I loved the book so much!
