CBH BEST OF (2014)

I wanted to do a roundup of some of my favorite things from 2014 today. Some of these things were new to me last year, other were things I continued to love so much from previous years that I included them as well.
I didn't go too crazy with choosing beauty products, but these six products were definite standouts of the year.

1. Fekkai Glossing Conditioner: this is on the expensive side, but every time I use it my hair feels 10x healthier and lighter.

2. Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray: This product was a game changer this summer. If you have oily skin this really improves the appearance of your makeup- and helps with longevity. This is a product that will remain a staple in my makeup collection.

3. Bite Beauty Lip Duos: I included these because the colors, formula, and value of the product was definitely my favorite lip product of the year. They're also perfect to throw in your bag or small clutch because they're mini!

4. Hoola Bronzer: I've had a lot of trouble with foundations this year, and I don't know how many times I was using one that was too light. Hoola always saved the day- it's the perfect matte bronzer that somehow warms up almost any complexion.

5. I tried a few different Lancome mascara's this year but I still think the original hypnose formula is my all-time favorite. It gives amazing volume without clumping and it's a little bit less dramatic than the drama formula (duh, haha)- so it works really nicely for daily use.

6. The Josie Maran Cleansing Oil was a staple in my skin care this year. I get a lot of redness and this is one of the only makeup removing products that doesn't irritate my skin. It's so gentle while still being effective.
For music, Jhene Aiko and Ed Sheeran were my top Pandora stations of the year. The Wire, Sherlock, and Suits are easily three of my favorite TV shows of all time and three shows I've been watching this year. I'm still working my way through The Wire and Suits, and I can't wait for the new season of Sherlock! Downton Abbey is an honorable mention, I just didn't love this past season as much as the previous three.

All three of these books had amazing writing and storytelling. I was so emotionally attached and connected to the characters that you really feel a sense of sadness when the story ends.

Sorry for a bit of the sloppiness of this post as far as the images go- I'm not quite back on top of my blogging game, but wanted to have this post up in some kind of timely fashion. What were some of your favorites from 2014? (not quite monthly favorites, but still linking up with mia)

  1. I recently tried the Fekkai shampoo and conditioner for colored hair due to my ombre drying the ends out and I agree softest I've ever had my hair! I too found the UD setting spray, although I've been using all-nighter and I've been thinking about trying the MAC setting Fix+ when I run out but I love how much better my makeup stays!

  5. My sister just finished binge-watching Sherlock, and now she's trying to get me to watch it. I guess I'll have to! I'm hoping to pick up the Goldfinch to read soon, and all your beauty products seem like winners. Great round up!

  6. Bite lipstick is definitely on my list of kinds to try! I'm glad you're still loving it. Sometimes high end makeup just doesn't justify the cost--but not all the times!

The Wire is pretty good. I think my husband enjoyed it more than I did, but overall, it's a really well-done show with great acting. I've heard The Affair (with the guy who plays McNulty) is good too.

  10. I need to snag some of the UD De-slick setting spray. I've heard about it for years but haven't ever taken the plunge. I have such oily skin that I think at this point it might just be necessary.

  13. I really love branching out and spending money on different mascaras, so I might need to give a few Lancome ones a try this year. I'm also adding to my reading list, and The Goldfinch was already suggested to me once, so I think I definitely need to go buy it!

  26. I'm still making my way through the Goldfinch, what a great story so far. Sherlock is definitely a top 5 pick for TV shows, I'm so sad we have to wait until 2016 for the new season :( I felt the same way as you did for season 4 of Downton Abbey, but I just finished watching season 5 and I've fallen back in love with it!

  30. I LOVE Lancome's Definicils mascara, but oy, the price tag. Those Bite Beauty lip duos are always so tempting to me! I snagged two of the mini matte lip crayons (the ones that came out over the holidays), and they definitely made me want to try more from the brand.
