Merry October

"October, baptize me with leaves! Swaddle me in corduroy and nurse me with split pea soup. October, tuck tiny candy bars in my pockets and carve my smile into a thousand pumpkins." -rainbow rowell (attachments)

A few October goals/plans:

1. GET A HAIRCUT. This sounds like a ridiculous goal, but I'm not a huge fan of going to the salon. I usually only get my hair cut 1-2x a year so it's not too big of a problem for me, but my hair is insanely long right now and it's way too hard to manage.

2. Apple Picking. I think we've gone almost every single year since I've lived here- so it's definitely a fall tradition.

3. Less TV more books. I got obsessed with watching The Wire, which really put a kink in my reading progress. I really do prefer reading to watching TV, I just get lazy.

4. 5k/running training: see post here.

5. Bake 1-2 new recipes-- preferably something with apples.

6. Plan for the holidays. This is vague, but I mean everything from figuring out our holiday plans to beginning to look for gifts. I want to stay on top of everything this year so I don't end up stressed out or disappointed when I run out of time.

September went by so incredibly fast, it's just kind of a blur when I look back. I'm hoping to make October a month of productivity.

What are some things you're looking forward to this month?
Even though I have like twenty-five books to read right now, I feel slightly out of the book loop-- what have you read recently?

  5. Love this idea! I was just saying a few days ago that I'd like to go apple picking because I've seen some ideas on Pinterest of putting them in the crock pot with brown sugar and other fall yummyness :)

  12. That sounds like a productive list! I really hope to read more books this month as well, since I also slacked in September. Apple picking sounds like so much fun, I want to look into doing that this month.

  13. I like your goal to "bake something with apples"! Yes. Absolutely.
I may make an apple pie or maybe apple butter or something. Delicious.

I also really need a haircut. My hair is SO LONG, and I think I like it, but I also don't know what to do with it now. I need help.

  19. September really does feel like a blur, haha. I, like you, need to organize myself and start planning for the holidays because I much prefer to feel prepared once December comes and I don't like running around at the last minute (even though I usually do a bit lol)... Great goals!!

  25. I cannot wait to bake with apples this month!! I don't know if there's apple picking in the South, so even if I just buy them at the grocery store, apple crisp will be made :)

  26. Solid goal list. I feel like I blinked and September was over too! All the more reason to make the most of October and absolutely try to fit in some apple picking :)

  27. I haaate getting my hair cut. I usually only go 1-2 times a year, too! I just went and got 9.5 inches cut off and it's STILL past my shoulders by prob 6 inches or so. It was ridiculous.

  28. Happy October! Anything that includes baked apples is amazing in my eyes! xx

  29. Yay for October!! I usually get my hair cut every few months because I colour it, but I haven't had a trim since before the summer, yikes. Thanks for reminding me I need to book an appointment! I'm also trying to get a head start on holiday planning, I love picking out the perfect gifts and hate when I leave it until the last minute!

  30. I'm totally with you on the needing a haircut front! mine is insanely long right now! x

  31. I love that you're focusing on apple recipes! I've been all about the pumpkin but I really need to switch it up. That's getting wayyyy too boring. And I'm right there with ya on the haircut - I love long hair but my long hair does NOT love me when it's to the point that it's just dead, split ends all over my head haha

  32. I am not a fan of getting my hair cut either. They always cut it too short. I am all about the fall and apples!

  33. I love apple picking and then baking with them! Yum!!! :)

  34. I just got my hair cut last month for the first time in a year. It was so long and just needed to be cut.
I am not a huge fan of going to get my haircut either. I think I've had so many bad experiences that I am always nervous that something bad will happen.

  38. I'm with you on the less tv and more books part! I had been doing really well about avoiding TV binges, but I've been on one big binge for the past couple of weeks. So I just bought a bunch of books and I'm ready to start reading again. Good luck with your goals! :D
